We live in a world filled with technology. However, if we tried, we could live without technology. So why do we love it so much? We love technology because it makes our lives easier, but that doesn’t mean it’s good. Technology allows us to be more efficient in many ways (travel, communicate, send); it gives us protection (weapons, cameras, buildings) and it gives us entertainment (video games, YouTube, Netflix).
Technology made many people’s lives better. Those who lost their ability to walk because of an accident can now do so thanks to robotics. Before, if you wanted to send a message to someone, you needed to write and send a letter; and, the further the distance, the longer the message would take to arrive. Now you simply need to click the send button, and the recipient can pick up their phone and read the message in less than a second. New technology always changes our lives and takes it to a new level. It is like a new way of doing normal things, but much faster and easier.
Like everything else in life, technology also has a negative side. Technology can sometimes act as an illusion. It may let you think that your information is safe, but actually it’s not safe at all. Before technology, if someone wanted to steal money, they were forced to go to the place where you would store your money. But nowadays, criminals can steal much more than just your money – and all they need is a computer. Because technology makes things easier, it not only makes good things easier, but also bad things. New technology was created for the medicine field that criminals can now also abuse to create a deadly chemical. Technology is like a double edged sword: it can both help and hurt.
